Also as some of you may or may not know, Nicole is living with us for the summer. It is awesome having her around, let me tell you there is never a dull moment with Nicole and her random thoughts! She is great help with Addison and she is my workout buddy. We workout every night and its actually a lot of fun!
We have been really busy racing this year. Zack has his year sponsorship from Caseys General Stores, but we were also selected to have charity car from Victory Junction Gang!! For those of you who don't know what that is they have a website www.victoryjunction.org. Victory Junction has enriched the lives of more than 11,000 children and families since opening in 2004 and welcomed children from 47 states and three countries. The cost of sending a child to camp is valued at $2,500, but no child or family incurs that cost thanks to generous donors. Since 2004, 9,234 volunteer positions have been filled. Last year, volunteers sacrificed an estimated 76,222 hours to assist at Victory Junction. Victory Junction serves 24 chronic medical conditions and serious illnesses such as, but not limited to, Autism, Cancer, Craniofacial Anomalies, Diabetes, Hemophilia, Sickle Cell and Spina Bifida. Twenty-seven hospitals partner with Victory Junction to deliver exceptional health care to campers with a variety of needs.
The camp, located in Randleman, N.C., is built on 84 acres and donated by Richard and Lynda Petty. The Kansas facility will be housed on approximately 71 acres. The construction process for the Midwest camp in Kansas City is expected to begin in 2010. This was such an honor to have this car to promote this camp and let children with these diseses know that keeping the dream alive is important!! We have done many appearances selling stickers and shirts with all proceeds going towards the camp. If any of you would like a shirt with Zack's racecar on it (all proceeds going to the camp) email me at cvanderbeek@plbco.com They are $20.00 and its a great cause!! Below is a picture of the car and shirt!
We also had a very high celebrity guest come to visit us at our race shop. For those of you who follow Nascar racing the driver of the 99 Carl Edwards was at our shop!! YES AT OUR SHOP IN LITTLE NEW SHARON, IA!!!! He was visiting us because he is thinking of putting up a big building by Pro-Line. I know what you are thinking... how did they get connected... well one of Carl's best friends is also a really good friend of Zack's Dad so put two together and that's how. It was very exciting and we have proof!
As for me I am staying busy trying to keep up with it all. I am still making my bows and doing well with them. I have them up in the salon that Ashton works at and they are selling really well there. It's just one more thing that keeps me busy, but I love doing it! We have Spring Festival this weekend and we are going to drive the golf cart through the parade for our Auto Shop Business, so maybe i can get some pictures up of that. Well that's all we have for now we love you all and hope all is well with everyone!!
